4th Annual Women in Capital Markets Symposium
January 2018
Raymond James hosted its 4th Annual Women in Capital Markets Symposium at our headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida, January 17-19. With over 150 guests in attendance from across the U.S., Canada and Europe, the Symposium included female associates as well as senior leaders from Equity Capital Markets, Fixed Income, Public Finance and Carillon Tower Advisors.
The agenda for this year’s event included an opening presentation by Raymond James Chairman & CEO Paul Reilly, a keynote by Claire Shipman, New York Times bestselling author and groundbreaking thought leader on gender differences in the workplace, and an interactive panel discussion on leadership featuring four female CEOs. The event also offered professional development sessions, practice management break-outs and numerous networking opportunities.
The CEOs, who discussed varying aspects of leadership, entrepreneurship, and achieving success in traditionally male-dominated fields, were:
- Rachel Carpenter, CEO and founder of Intrinio, a fin- tech start-up
- Margaret Hartigan, CEO and founder of Marstone, a digital wealth management platform
- Stephanie Pugliese, President & CEO of the Duluth Trading Company, an apparel retailer
- Mary Ann Scully, founder, CEO and chairman of Howard Bank, a publicly traded community bank based in Maryland
The Women in Capital Markets Symposium is led by a steering committee of 10 female leaders within Raymond James capital markets division. Originating in 2014, the mission of the event is to provide female associates an opportunity to cultivate and deepen relationships with leadership and with female colleagues across the firm’s capital markets sectors. The event is a forum for sharing ideas and conducting meaningful conversations that will help deliver greater diversity in capital markets both at Raymond James and within the industry.
In his opening remarks, Reilly noted, “Our firm is about people, and our culture is what helps us attract and retain talented professionals. This group, the Women in Capital Markets, is one way we support our associates’ growth and encourage their positive impact within their professions.”
